A day after Japan’s win against Cameroon in the World Cup, SMAP members Shingo Katori (33) and Takuya Kimura (37) have been reported to be in excited fits, according to Sanspo.com.

Speaking at a TV Asahi World Cup event yesterday in Roppongi, Tokyo, Shingo said he had been watching the Japan vs Cameroon match from his agency’s office with his manager, drinking beer as he saw Japan make history.

“There were tears streaming down my face, I was so happy!!”

Shingo will be the team Japan support captain for their next match against Holland.  He had urged people to support the team and set a TV rating goal of 61.9%, a play on the numbers of the date the game will be played, June 19, or 0619.

Group member Kimura also posted his congratulations on his blog:

そして、おめでとう(And, congratulations)

ゆっくり休んで下さい(Please rest up now!)

俺も、休みます(I’m going to rest too)
