Ryo Nishikido surrounded by hundreds of girls in Tokyo

NEWS and Kanjani8 member Ryo Nishikido (25) found himself surrounded by 300 girls all dressed in Japanese yukata today, reports Mainichi Shinbum and TV Asahi.

The popstar and the cast of “ちょんまげぷりん (Chonmage Pudding)” had been attending a summer evening event for their movie today at Ebisu Garden Place Centre.

Nishikido said he was surprised by the crowd, who screamed and cheered at his comments.

“This is the first time I’ve seen so many women dressed in yukata.  My heart is racing,” he said.

The movie follows samurai Yasubee Kijima (Nishikido), who time travels from the Edo period, 180 years ago, to modern day Japan and ends up living with single mother Hiroko (Rie Tomosaka) and her son.  Yasubee learns how to make sweets, eventually becoming are popular patissier and a part of his adoptive family’s life.

Nishikido said there were many reasons why people should watch the film.

“There are a lot of great Japanese things put into it.

“It may be hot these days, but it’s cool inside the movie theater so please see it!”  He said

Child actor Fuku Suzuki (6) gave fans another reason why they should see the film.

“Nishikido looks so cool in it!”

When asked about what meeting had had the biggest impression on his life, like in the film, Nishikido answered: “The time I met the members (of my group)”.

“ちょんまげぷりん (Chonmage Pudding)” begins in Japan cinemas on July 31.
