V6’s Go Morita (31) has got himself a buzz cut for his new stage show that will open a new theater in Kanagawa prefecture, reports Sports Hochi.

Morita will play the main character in the first stage-adaption of “金閣寺 (Kinkakuji, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion)”, a critically-acclaimed Japanese novel of the same name.  A fiction story, it follows Mizoguchi, a disturbed Buddhist acolyte who is the main suspect in the torching of a Kyoto temple.  The story reflects on Mizoguchi’s obsession with beauty and death.

The play will be the opening show for the newly-built Kanagawa Geijyutsu Gekijo theater in January 2011.

Morita has been reported to have said that although there was added pressure on him to perform the opening show for a new theater in a play based on a famous novel, he felt more excited than nervous.

“I feel extremely privileged to have been given this role.

“Mishima has attracted readers worldwide with his rich words and thoughts, and I get more and more interested when I think about how I can put more depth into Mizoguchi’s way of thinking and how he looks at life,” he said.

The novel “金閣寺 (Kinkakuji, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion)” was written by Yukio Mishima in 1956, and it’s English translation sealed Mishima’s reputation as a international writer.
