My restaurant I recommend NEWS fans to visit

It’s been ages but I thought some NEWS fans might want to know where Yamapi, Shige, and Massu ate so they could go there when visiting Tokyo 🙂

Most NEWS fans (or Yamapi, Shige, Massu fans) would have noticed, the three of them had some of their LIVE! LIVE! LIVE! concert pamphlet photoshoots at an italian restaurant, out in a terrace, surrounded by trees.

Partial shot of one of the photos from Yamapi, Shige, and Massu's photoshoot

The restaurant is La Scogliera (www.la-scogliera.com), an Italian seafood restaurant in Akasaka, Tokyo.

The restaurant owners even blogged about the shoot!  They talk about some behind-the-scenes stuff so I’ve translated it below:

Subject: NEWS Fans are detectives

Post: “Hello NEWS fans who have clicked on this website and are thinking, ‘is it here?’

It is here!  Ding dong, ding dooooong!  You are correct.

One afternoon in August, a photoshoot took place on the terrace of La Scogliera.

The photos were taken to show the members of Johnny’s group NEWS having a private meal at our restaurant, and were used for their September concert tour pamphlet.

But because it was a Johnny’s shoot, we had been told that they couldn’t credit photoshoot places in the pamphlet so we were expecting nothing to happen if people didn’t know which restaurant the photos were taken at.

But, buuuuut.

NEWS fans were smart.  They found us without any trouble and have been asking us, ‘we’d like the same dishes as them, please!’.

When we asked them how they found us, they said that by studying the photos from the pamphlet, and other behind-the-scenes photos (on sale at the Johnny’s shop), they were able to find three keywords: ‘Italian’, ‘flag of Sicily’, and ‘a place that overlooks steep streets’.

The fact that they could find our restaurant with just those clues is amazing!!!

Ar, are you super detectives…

It’s amazing, it’s like something out of a Detective Conan manga, wow!

Yamashita-kun and Masuda-kun and Kato-kun were really down-to-earth boys who smiled and ate a lot, raised their hands as they shouted, ‘this is so delicious!!!’, and also said, ‘this is amazing!’  Yes, they’re in our good books now…

* Of course, many other celebrities have come to our restaurant in the past (like him or her, it’s a secret) but we keep our mouths shut about who they were.

But this time it was a shoot (work), and for all of these fans who have really gone beyond anything detective Conan is capable of, we decided to write about our experience just this once.

If you’re thinking, ‘where is that restaurant!?’ then please come by some day.

Especially on a sunny Saturday or on a public holiday.

Then if you could say, ‘what is this, it’s so delicious!’ like Yamapi and NEWS, it would make us very happy.”

That is a really sweet diary entry XD

Even though I haven’t been there yet (one fan blog said it costs about 6000 yen) I am definately up for trying it on my next day off!  And possibly when I find someone else to go there with me!

Hope you liked this!

Ahh… Momo! I wish I had gone to Akasaka!! I was in Tokyo in September… but I gave it a miss coz this summer was really hot! If I had gone I might have seen them doing the photo shoot, no? 😦

    • 22:41 JST November 29, 2010 at 10:41 PM

September was a hot month, I very much agree!
Hmmmm, well, they did the photoshoot in August, according to the restaurant staff.
But around that time they would’ve been on their Osaka concert, I think?

The Johnny’s office is around Akasaka too. The Johnny’s family club is in Shibuya if I remember correctly…

Ok… I must go hang around Akasaka the next time I visit Tokyo. My company’s Japan office is there too, but I didn’t think of visiting the area coz I was on a personal trip.

Was really upset, coz I didn’t time my trip properly. Meant to go when it was approaching Autumn, so that it wouldn’t be so hot. But as usual, I think Mother Nature played tricks on us. And to add on, I went in early September, and totally missed NEWS Concert in late September. 😦 Not that I would have been able to make it since I heard it’s tough to ballot for tickets, but it would have been fun to see all the CMs/footage on telly.

Totally envy that you are there to absorb everything!! Do wish sometimes I can get posted to the Japan office to work, but I think it’s not gonna be possible for me.

      You’re welcome.
      And no!!! I still haven’t been (>w<)
I love Italian and I love seafood so there really isn't any reason I shouldn't go…
      Must try it soon…
