KAT-TUN will become the first group to do an outdoor kombinat concert and a 5-dome national concert tour in Japan.

The outdoor concert will be held in Kawasaki city’s Higashiougijima Higashi Park, where a concert venue capable of fitting 20,000 fans will be set up.  Pet dogs will also be allowed into the park, and KAT-TUN members will be taking part in parades prior to their concert.

“I’m very excited.  I’m happy that we’ll be able to share some time with so many more fans this year which is our fifth anniversary,” said Kazuya Kamenashi.

On Jan 3 the pop star read out a letter he had received from long-time friend and actress Mitsuko Mori (90).

Kanjani8 performed their upcoming single “T.W.L” for the first time at their New Year’s countdown concert in Osaka.

“Osaka, our hometown, you are awesome.  We have a present for you all…we’re going to sing our new single,” said Yu Yokoyama (29).

The group had only recorded the song four days prior to their December 31 concert, but Ryo Nishikido (26) had told fans that didn’t bother them.

“It feels great to sing this song.  We’ve been having fun with it since sound checks,” he said.

On the other side of Japan, KinKi Kids were showing fans their just-arrived-in-the-mail Guinness World Record plaque which officially recognized the duo has had 30 number one singles in a row since their debut, the longest run in the world.

“It was a record made thanks to you all so we wanted to show you it,” Koichi Domoto (32) said.

“We’ll work hard to continue to produce good music,” Tsuyoshi Domoto (31) said.

“It was like I was stepping into new ground, I never knew I could act the bad guy role,” Inagaki said.

SMAP member Shingo Katori who was also at the award ceremony congratulated his fellow group member.

“I’ve known Goro-chan since primary school, but I think this is the first time he’s ever won such an award so I’m very happy for him.  It’s a good thing too because if he didn’t get this award it all would’ve ended with simply him playing a bad guy,” he said.

At the same awards ceremony, Jin Akanishi’s film “BANDAGE” had received the Fan Award.

KAT-TUN talked about cars at an event for Suzuki’s SOLIO car range, in which the group star in the company’s latest commercials.

“It was something new for the five of us to get into one car,” Kazuya Kamenashi said as he looked back on the commercials shoot.

“It looks cool!  It’s really good at getting around tight corners so I hope girls will get hooked onto it when they see how sharply it can move,” Koki Tanaka said.

“It looks cute so I hope women will be interested in driving it.  All you fathers out there, please buy one for your daughters!,” said Tatsuya Ueda.

Members were also asked where they would want to take a car drive to.

“Hot springs,” Junnosuke Taguchi said.

“I want to go skiing,” Ueda said.

“Illumination lights are pretty so a drive around town would be good,” Yuichi Nakamaru said.

“If we were to go driving as a group, I wouldn’t want Nakamaru-kun to drive.  I love driving!!,” said Kamenashi.

In other forms of transport, SMAP’s Takuya Kimura’s sci-fi movie “SPACE BATTLESHIP Yamato” had been seen by more than two million people in Japan since its opening on December 1.
