Arashi’s Satoshi Ohno (30) and the original cast of the Kaibutsu-kun TV drama will be popping out of movie screens around Christmas this year as its movie plans were revealed on January 12, reports Oricon, Cinema Today, and Mainichi Shimbun  Digital.

The 3D movie will give fans the chance to see Kaibutsu-kun’s arms stretch out in front of them, something which the film’s star Ohno had said he was excited about.

“Did you know, ‘Kaibutsu-kun’ is coming back as a movie.  In 3D!  I expect the movie to get top marks for excitement!  Mind you, I have no idea how it’s going to turn out (laughs).

“Everyone, be careful not get caught by Kaibutsu-kun’s stretched arms in the theatre,” he said.

It has been reported part of the film will also be shot overseas, bringing a worldwide quality to the Kaibutsu world.

Kaibutsu-kun’s creator, manga writer Fujiko Fujio A said he was just as happy for the upcoming movie as he was for the TV drama series.

“Ohno-kun’s ‘Kaibutsu-kun’ TV series made me forget I was the creator, it was so exciting!  And now it’s going up a level to become a 3D movie!  So what kind of havoc are Kaibutsu-kun and his friends going to cause now!?  I can’t wait to see,” he said.

It has been reported shooting for the film is scheduled to begin within January, and the movie is set to be finished some time in October before its release around Christmas.

The film will bring back most of the original TV cast including Norito Yashima, Ryuhei Ueshima, Choi Hong Man, Masahiro Matsuoka (TOKIO), Umika Kawashima, Tatsuomi Hamada, Izumi Inamori, and Takeshi Kaga.

The film’s director has been announced as Yoshihiro Nakamura, who had recently made “Chonmage Pudding” in 2010.

The TV series of Kaibutsu-kun was broadcast in Japan from April to June 2010, and had recorded average ratings of 13.9 per cent.
