Shingo Katori will return to the Monday night drama slot as a man who sells happiness to those looking for love, it was announced on February 8, reports Sankei Sports and Daily Sports.

The SMAP member will turn into a marriage counselor who has a talent for fixing together happy couples.  One day, a woman beautiful beyond description, played by Meisa Kuroki, comes into the counseling office.  Strangely, nothing in the textbooks works for her, and Katori’s character finds himself falling in love with this mysterious client.

But wanting her to be truly happy, he decides to set her up with Mr Perfect, a good-looking and rich lawyer played by Naohito Fujiki.  Things take an unexpected turn after secrets about the two clients are revealed, dragging Katori’s character into the equation.

To date Katori has played ninjas and warriors, but the pop star has said he was ready to for his upcoming love comedy drama.

“We might not be living in an overly happy world today, but I hope that people can become happy by watching my character,” he said.

The Fuji TV drama’s producer Ken Murase said he had high hopes for Katori to bring some smiles back to Monday night dramas.

“We want people to smile and giggle as they watch Katori’s character try to solve his own love problems, but also be able to see the frailty of love, it’s joy, and how deep it can get.

“I hope we can make this like a Hollywood romantic comedy where people can laugh out loud, but also get warm fuzzy feelings,” he said.

This drama will be Katori’s fourth Monday night drama, the last being in January 2008 when he had starred in “薔薇のない花屋 (Bara no Nai Hanaya)”.

The title of the drama is yet to be announced, and will start in April.
