My away trip

16:30 JST June 23, 2011 18 comments

Hi everyone,

This is to let you guys know I’ll be inactive from now until July 1.

I have a huge business trip next week and I’ve been spending the whole week preparing for it (eeek!!!).

This will no doubt explain the lack to posts lately!

I’m so sorry for the inconvenience it’ll cause, but I promise things will go back to normal once July’s underway!

In other news, I got my (confirmed) ticket to see Tegomass and Tackey and Matchy at this year’s Gaen Fireworks Festival!!!

Woohoo!!!  Massu~~~~~~~~~

I’m gonna go in my yukata and all, hehehe…

Hope everyone has a magical week, and I’ll see you later!

Momo xoxo

Yuya Tegoshi (NEWS) has turned into a Greek shepherd for his latest commercial, it was revealed on June 16, reports News 24.

The Johnny’s talent has been chosen as the new face of energy drink マッチ(Match), and will appear in a series of comical TV commercials playing Melos, a character from Japanese short story “走れメロス (Run, Melos)” by Osamu Dazai.  The story is about young Greek shepherd Melos and his friendship with Selinuntius.

In the first commercial, fans will see high schooler Melos running after the school bus, which he missed after sleeping in, and screaming out his friend’s name.

It has been reported Tegoshi turned up to today’s press conference wearing his Greek costume.

“I’m a popstar, I have to be able to wear anything!” he said.

It was revealed Tegoshi had run more than three kilometres during the commercial shoot, but it did not bring him down.

“It was a little hard to speed up while holding the product in my hand, but it was fun.  I love running,” he said.

To make things more interesting, a treadmill was brought into the hall, and Tegoshi insisted he answered questions while running.  It has been reported even when he was asked whether he was ever late for school, the talent managed to keep talking while running.

“I was never late for school!  I remember running flat out from the nearest station to school,” he said.

KAT-TUN’s Kamenashi, Tanaka, and Nakamaru to star in upcoming stage show Dream Boys

18:21 JST June 14, 2011 9 comments

Kazuya Kamenashi, Koki Tanaka, and Yuichi Nakamaru have been cast in the Johnny’s stage show “Dream Boys”, it was revealed at the show’s press conference in Tokyo on June 14, reports Oricon and TV Asahi.

The show has been performed by a number of Johnny’s talents over the years since its debut in 2004.  Its story follows the dreams, falls, and friendships formed between young men, and involve a variety of performances including acrobatics, boxing, and flying stunts.

It has been reported the three members will be re-named the “勝運 (Sho-un or Katsu-un in this case, Good luck or Good fortune)” group during the show’s season, which will be in September.  Kamenashi said he was optimistic with their temporary name.

“The meaning of KAT-TUN is that, like a ‘cartoon’ (comic), things keep popping out that make you want to keep turning the pages to read what happens next.  The name ‘勝運 (sho-un, katsu-un)’ has been around for a while, and it means a group that’s blessed with good fortune, and overcome their challenges.  I hope we can generate some good luck from the Imperial Garden Theater,” he said.

“Dream Boys” made its debut in 2004 at the Imperial Garden Theater, when Hideaki Takizawa took the lead role and the show was called “Dream Boy”.  The three KAT-TUN members have performed in the show individually over the years, but have an important role this year as the theater is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

“I’ve watched this show from the seats, and I think the best thing that comes out of it is energy.  So, I hope we can give that,” Nakamaru said.

“I want to take in what the audience is feeling, what they’re thinking, and create a good champion for them.  I hope we can make the audience happy,” Tanaka said.

“We’re happy to be a part of this show during the Imperial Garden Theater’s 100th anniversary.  We hope we can send out our best smiles, courage, and energy from the stage.  We’re also thinking of some new flying techniques worthy of the 100th birthday season,” Kamenashi said.

Speaking of flying, it has been reported even Nakamaru, who is scared of heights, showed an interest in the subject.

“Maybe I should try flying,” he said before he was interrupted by his fellow members who said, “we can’t imagine you flying”.

“Dream Boys” will be performed at Tokyo’s Imperial Garden Theater between September 3 and 25, with 38 shows, and is expected to attract 70,000 fans in total.

Junichi Okada (V6) and Yu Yokoyama (Kanjani8) will play rivals in an upcoming movie being made by an Academy award-winning director, reports Eiga.comSports Hochi, and Sponichi Annex today.

Yojiro Takita, who won an oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2009 for “Departures”, is adapting popular period novel “天地明察 (Tenchimeisatsu)” for the big screen.  Written by To Ubukata, the story follows Harumi Shibukawa (later known as Santetsu Yasui), a Go player and astronomer who lived in the Edo period (around the 17th century) and is famous for revising the Chinese lunisolar calendar for Japan.

It has been reported Okada has been cast as the lead role of Harumi, while actress Aoi Miyazaki will play Harumi’s wife, and Yokoyama will play Harumi’s rival.

“I want to put my heart into this role so that maybe I can give viewers courage and hope in playing a man who pushes forward and puts his life into working on this (lunisolar) calendar, how he takes things straight on, and who’s surrounded by people who have his back,” Okada said.

The movie’s director also said he expected big things from Okada.

“When I tried to picture my main character looking straight at the stars, I thought of Okada-san’s eyes and how they show a certain kindness, but also a strong will,” Takita said.

The movie will begin shooting on June 16 and is scheduled to be released in 2012.
