A former Johnny’s group who originally made roller skates famous, reunited temporarily for a charity performance in Yokohama on August 12, reports Chunichi Sports and Nikkan Sports.

It has been reported former Hikaru Genji member Kazumi Morohoshi had kicked off his Tohoku earthquake charity concert tour in Yokohama on Friday, which was also his 41st birthday.  As special guests, other former Hikaru Genji members Junichi Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sato came on stage.  For the first time since their breakup 17 years ago, the three performed songs such as “愛してもいいですか (Ai shitemo iidesuka)” and “勇気100% (Yuuki 100%)” in roller skates.

During their performance, the trio talked about Kis-My-Ft2, who have taken on Hikaru Genji’s style of performing with roller skates.

“There’s a new group right?  But we’re the originals,” Morohoshi said.

“You should ask Kis-My if you can be their back dancer,” Yamamoto said as he teased Morohoshi.

It has been reported while only three members turned up perform last night, Morohoshi said he was hopeful for a full seven-member reunion.

“There is one guy who couldn’t be here even if he wanted to, but we’re all soul mates so we’ll wait for him.  I’m looking forward to the day that all seven of us can get together,” he said.
