Tsuyoshi Kusanagi has been officially named one of two supporters for the Japanese pavilion at the 2012 Yeosu Expo in Korea, it was announced on January 18, reports Daily Sports Online.

The Expo will be held in Korea from May to August.  The event’s theme is ‘”sea”, and is a chance for the international community to share knowledge and understanding about the world’s oceans and coasts.

It has been reported at a ceremony in Tokyo today, Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yukio Edano named SMAP’s Kusanagi, and TV celebrity/Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology guest associate professor さかなクン (Sakana-kun) as Japan’s supporters.

At the ceremony, both commented there were things they could learn from one another.

“I’m so happy.  I hope Kusanagi-san can teach me some Korean,” Sakana-kun said.

“I hope I can learn about fish from you,” Kusanagi said.
