Sexy Zone’s first arena concert in front of 30,000 fans
The five-member group had only made their debut in November 2011, but at yesterday’s concert they performed 19 songs, tried skits and rapping, and announced they would be special supporters for volleyball’s final qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympics. It has been reported Shori Sato had written the lyrics to a theme song for the volleyball qualifiers.
“I want it to be a song to cheer on not just volleyball, but also the world,” Sato said.
But before this, the group’s second single “Lady ダイヤモンド (Lady Diamond)” comes out on April 11, and the group performed the song at yesterday’s concert.
It has been reported the group were running around so much, Fuma Kikuchi got a cramp in his leg.
“(Before going on stage I was so nervous) but when I saw the fans, all that fear went away,” Kikuchi said.
Marius Yo, who turns 12 on March 30, also said he was nervous at first, but then things got fun.
Kento Nakajima said it had been five years since he had first stood on the arena’s stage as a back dancer for Hey! Say! JUMP.
“While I was at the back I thought about how cool it would be to sing in a huge hall. Now, instead of my seniors in front of me there are fans,” he said.
Sexy Zone still have one more concert to perform in the Yokohama Arena, and on April 1 will perform in Osaka.
