Tackey & Tsubasa’s Tsubasa Imai has been named the world’s first Spanish culture envoy, it was announced on June 14, reports Oricon.
It has been reported Imai took part in a special ceremony at the Cervantes Institute in Tokyo on Thursday. The Johnny’s talent had been recognised for his keen interest and promotion of Spanish culture through learning the language, and using his concerts and other events as an opportunity to do flamenco performances.
“I feel very grateful to have been given this responsibility. I hope I can become a bridge between Japan and Spain,” Imai said in Spanish.
The Spanish Culture Envoy title is given to an individual who cares about the culture of both countries, and works to promote Spanish language and culture in Japan, and was awarded by the Spanish Ambassador Miguel Ángel Navarro Portera.
Today, the Johnny’s talent was asked to send a message to his lady fans in Spanish.
“I would rather say those things to a lady when we’re alone, but…’Te quiero’, ‘I love you’ I guess,” he said.
Johnny’s Jr. talent Hokuto Matsumura has only had one drama role to date, but now he is being given the supporting role for upcoming drama series “黒の女教師 (Kuro no Onna Kyoshi)“, it was announced on June 13, reports Sankei Sports.
It has been reported actress Nana Eikura will play the lead role in the drama, a chemistry teacher at a well-respected school by day, but at night becomes a problem-solver who helps students in trouble with bullies or drugs in return for a big payout. 16-year-old Matsumura will play a mysterious new student at Eikura’s character’s school.
“I want to put everything on the line for this drama. I want to become a pop star who can act,” he said.
The Johnny’s Jr. talent had made his drama debut in “私立バカレア高校 (Shiritsu Bakarea Koukou)”. It has been reported Matsumura said acting in this drama made him realise he wanted to continue acting and performing, just like his seniors Kazunari Ninomiya or Tomohisa Yamashita.
It has been reported Johnny’s president Johnny Kitagawa had brought Matsumura the news without warning, saying, “I’ve got a huge role for you, do your best”. This role was a supporting actor role in a golden hour drama playing a character with a difficult family background.
“Hearing him say that put me under pressure, and when I read the script I felt even more pressure. It looks difficult, but it’s definitely worth doing,” Matsumura said.
Matsumura is no stranger to working hard. Before joining Johnny’s he had been a keen karate athlete, already earning his black belt and second place in the Shizuoka prefectural karate tournament when he was in the sixth grade.
“I’m used to working hard. I look at this drama like it’s my next game, and winning it will lead me to bigger opportunities.”
Kazuya Kamenashi, Anne, and Fuku Suzuki will be coming to movie theatres powered up with more CG effects and action sequences, reports TheTV on June 14.
The three will be reprising their roles from the 2011 monster drama series “妖怪人間ベム (Yokai Ningen Bem)” in a story especially written for the big screen.
The drama series ended with Bem (Kamenashi), Bera (Anne), and Bero (Suzuki) choosing to protect the human race rather than become human, and then disappearing from their friend detective Natsume.
The movie will start with Bem, Bera, and Bero coming to a new town. The town, however, has been troubled with a string of mysterious, unsolved cases. Then, Bero falls in love with a girl he meets. As Bero’s desire to become human grows, Bem and Bera find a way to become human, but struggle to decide whether it would be best to let just Bero become human, or whether they should become human with him. The three also discover that the mysterious cases had been caused by another yokai. Not just any yokai either, one more powerful than Bem and his friends have ever encountered.
The battle scenes will be bigger than they were during the drama, and more special effects makeup and CGs will be used in the upcoming movie.
On the Yokai Bem website, all three cast members have released their comments.
“Oha-yokai! I’m so excited! I really wanted to know what they (Bem, Bero, and Bero) were doing now so I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited to be able to see Bera and Bero again, and to be able to play Bem. I want to be a yokai-ningen now!” (Kazuya Kamenashi)
“I’m so excited to hear it’ll become a movie! I hope to be able to play an even more action-packed Bera on the big screen. I want to be a yokai now!” (Anne)
“I’m so excited to hear my favourite Yokai Ningen Bem will become a movie. I’m looking forward to shooting with my favourite Kamenashi-san and Anne-san. I love action sequences so I hope I get my own fight scene. I’ll do my best to put myself in my acting! Shooting will be over the hot summer season, but as a yokai ningen I promise to do my best not to sweat too much or get bitten by insects, and make the best yokai ningen team ever.” (Fuku Suzuki)
The movie will be released on December 15, 2012, in more than 300 movie theatres.
