Recently, gossip magazines had reported Yamashita had been on holiday in Okinawa with his new girlfriend, a restaurant staff worker in Tokyo.
At yesterday’s fan event in Yokohama, Yamashita set the record straight.
“I haven’t had any time to go to Okinawa, and I don’t know this person who works at a restaurant. It’s totally wrong. I’ve been good and restraining myself. I only open up in front of my fans.”
Talk about red underwear, boxer shorts, nipples, gossip, fans saw a new side of Tomohisa Yamashita during his fan event at Pacifico in Yokohama on July 24, reports Chunichi Sports.
With the release of his new album “エロP (Ero-P)” today and upcoming tour which starts this weekend, yesterday Yamashita let out his sexy side in front of 5000 fans who have always known him as a cool guy.
“That horniness inside of me that I’ve kept hidden since becoming a Johnny’s pop start has started to come out bit by bit this summer. Today I’m wearing red underwear. I like wearing boxer shorts more.”
It has been reported to make his point clearer, before the event, Yamashita had talked to the press about what his concept was for his upcoming tour.
“The tour is a fusion of Johnny’s and eros. It’s something everyone can enjoy whether they’re a little girl or a mature lady.”
Yamashita had been going around the country on his fan event tour for fans who had bought his latest single “LOVE CHASE”. At yesterday’s event, which was the last of the tour, the talent had enjoyed shouting out a lot of messages to his fans.
“You’re all that special someone to me.”
“You can see my nipples in the shower scene of my music video.”

It has been reported Yamashita is a long time fan of Ichiro’s, and had even gotten a baseball and baseball shoes personally signed from the baseball player.
“I’ve been a fan since I was in the third grade.
“He’s already done so much, but he keeps challenging himself and keeps aiming higher. I hope I can keep aiming towards my dreams no matter how old I get,” Yamashita said.
Tomohisa Yamashita has ended things with his rumored French girlfriend, and is now seeing a restaurant worker, reports women’s weekly magazine Shukan Josei.
Yamashita had been previously caught dating a European woman in 2011, a relationship which seemed to have been going well according to a friend.
“Yamashita said that he could relax around her because she didn’t see him as a celebrity. He’s been hoping to work overseas for years, and I think she had a good effect on him because they talked to one another in English. Even if he had work from early in the morning, he’d make time to see her for meals afterwards,” said one source who knows Yamashita.
But recently it has been reported the relationship has ended.
“They broke up ages ago. Around the beginning of last year there were a number of sightings of the two of them on dates and there was talk that they were kind of living together, but I heard they broke up around the end of the year. I think the cultural differences were too much for him to handle. Western culture has influenced his lifestyle a lot lately, but there might’ve been some things about how she saw the world that he just couldn’t understand,” said one source.
Rumours had started going around Yamashita had got back with actress Keiko Kitagawa after the two were spotted having dinner together around the end of last year, but the source who knows Yamashita has said this was not true.
“That’s not likely because he has a new girlfriend, B-san. He’s already introduced her to his close friends, and they all went for a holiday in Okinawa during the spring break. Apparently he didn’t want to attract attention so they went to a smaller island away from the main island.
“B-san works at a restaurant in Tokyo. But because his agency told him off for being too careless while dating his last girlfriend, he’s been really careful when seeing his new girlfriend. It’s a big change, because he used to tell everyone that he didn’t care whether people were looking at him,” said one source who knows Yamashita.
Tomohisa Yamashita fans are worried about the seemingly desperate measures his team are taking to get good sale numbers, reports Cyzowoman.
Yamapi’s next single “LOVE CHASE“, which is currently the theme song to anime “トリコ (Toriko)”, is due to be released on July 4. Five variations of the single will go on sale at different stores:
- Limited Edition A (CD + DVD)
- Limited Edition B (CD + 24 page photo booklet)
- Regular Edition (CD)
- Lawson Limited Edition (CD + DVD + Lawson version B2 size poster), only available at Lawson convenience stores
- Tomohisa Yamashita SHOP Limited Edition (CD + DVD + Tomohisa Yamashita shop version B2 poster), only available at the Tomohisa Yamashita SHOP
Then there is also the Yamapi meet and greet event. Only fans who have bought three editions of the five can enter in a lottery for one of the 17 events which will be held in Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Sendai. Estimating each event would be packed, it would total up to 29,800 fans, and therefore 89,400 records.
“Other Johnny’s talents have held events for fans who have bought CDs and thank you events, but not many have gone around the entire country doing so many,” said one Johnny’s news reporter.
Fan reactions have also been mixed.
“The fans around me have been saying, ‘they say it’s a lottery but wouldn’t everyone in regional areas get in anyway?’, ‘it’s quite cheap when you think that buying three CDs, or 3700 yen, will get you into an event’, ‘another meet and greet. And this time he’s going all around the place…’, or ‘maybe going solo wasn’t a good idea?’,” said one fan.
Of course fans would still be more than happy to get the chance to meet Yamashita, but it cannot be the ideal way he would have wanted to get the No.1 spot.
Tomohisa Yamashita’s road trip through America is doing great on the charts, and it has even prompted a new event involving Yamapi himself, reports Sports Hochi.
It has been reported DVD charts these days indicate sales of more than 10,000 copies is a big hit. Yamashita’s “山下智久・ルート66〜たった一人のアメリカ〜 (Tomohisa Yamashita Route 66 ~Tatta Hitori no America~)” DVD has sold more than 21,000 copies since it was released on April 11.
The documentary was broadcast by Nihon TV between January and March this year, and follows Yamashita as he went driving down Route 66.
“I found a lot of things on this journey. I met a lot of people and I learnt a lot of things. My perspective of life changed significantly,” Yamashita said.
It has been reported the positive sales have prompted a new event for fans. On May 19, 380 fans chosen through a lottery will get to go to a special screening of the documentary where Yamashita himself will take part and share some behind-the-scenes stories. Fans will even get a chance to meet Yamashita because he will be stamping a special Route 66 event notebook for them in person.
“I’m so happy that I get a chance like this to hold an event long after I finished the journey. I hope I can use the event as an opportunity to make people really understand what it was like,” he said.

It has been reported the song is called “LOVE CHASE”, and although a released date has not been decided, it will start playing at the end of the anime show from April 15. Yamashita has said he was excited about his first anime song as a solo artist.
“I can’t wait to see how ‘LOVE CHASE’ goes with the ‘Toriko’ anime,” he said.
Toriko follows the adventures of Toriko, a gourmet food hunter, who is always on the search for the perfect meal. The Toriko anime series began in 2011, but the manga has been a regular series in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2008.
It has been reported Yamashita himself has said the song’s style is expressed in the title.
“Like the title says, it’s a very uptempo song and I think it goes very well with Toriko’s stories of trying to find impossible foods,” he said.
Song producer and pop-rock band MONKEY MAJIK said the song also goes well with Yamashita’s image.
“It’s the perfect song for Yamashita-san, it’s cool and upbeat so I hope you all like it!”
When Tomohisa Yamashita forgot his glasses at a bar, it turned the place into a tourist attraction, reports Shukan Josei.
It has been reported the members-only bar in Ebisu, Tokyo, is a favourite of many Japanese celebrities.
“Yamapi is a regular there, apparently he comes by at least once a week. (Comedian) Lasar Ishii is one of the bar’s owners. Yamapi comes here a lot with his friends. Not just other celebrities, but also his own friends,” said one source.
“I’ve seen Kanjani8’s Subaru Shibutani here too. A lot of comedians come by as well. They throw birthday parties and mixers here,” said one regular lady customer.
It has been reported Yamapi had forgotten his glasses at the bar after a night out with friends.
“One night around mid-March, at about 10pm, he came here with his ‘Texas project’ team. Everyone was drinking a lot, especially Yamapi who had at least 10 shots, but it did nothing to him. He was asking whether the bar had anything stronger,” said one customer.
Apparently the glasses have not been picked up by the talent yet, and have now been placed on the bar’s mannequin.
“Women who come to the bar get all excited about the glasses. Some of them put them on or even take photos of it. The word got around so now regular customers are bringing in their Yamapi fan friends. This place used to be a quiet bar but now it’s like a tourist attraction,” said one regular male customer.
The same regular customer explained why the bar was so popular in the beginning.
“Being a members-only bar is one thing, but the interior is chic and also kind of shady at the same time. There are inexplicable mannequin statues, and the lights shine directly onto the red walls to give it a real mysterious element. I’ve seen people use it as the place to try and win a girl,” he said.
