SMAP’s Takuya Kimura had been caught over the speed limit twice in the past few months, Johnny’s & Associates had announced on March 14, reports J-CAST news and Sankei News.

It has been reported Kimura had been caught speeding once in Chiba prefecture during September 2011, and again this year in January.  A story about it will be published in weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun, which goes on sale on March 15 in Japan.

The following statement had been sent out by Johnny’s:

Dear members of the press,
Recently, a story has been published by a weekly magazine about one of our agency’s talents, Takuya Kimura, who was caught speeding while driving his vehicle in Chiba prefecture in September last year.

On the topic of this speeding charge, the same person was once again caught speeding in Tokyo prefecture in January this year.  It is true that fines have been paid for each event, and we offer our deepest apologies.

Kimura himself, who is at the root of all of this, has expressed that as an adult he has done something truly embarrassing and has learned his lesson.  He has promised to never let such a thing happen again, and deeply apologises to his fans and those who work with him for causing so much trouble.

SMAP’s Nakai will play Rain Man detective

14:23 JST January 30, 2012 2 comments

SMAP’s Masahiro Nakai’s first drama in three years will see him take on an interesting but complex role, it was revealed on January 29, reports Sponichi Annex and Chunichi Sports.

“ATARU” is TV company TBS’ new kind of mystery drama, which will begin in Japan this April.  Nakai will play lead character Ataru, a savant with a mysterious past, whose unique abilities allow him to solve seemingly impossible cases.  Savant syndrome is a rare condition in people with disorders such as autism who also show incredible talent something else.  Hollywood actor Dustin Hoffman made savant syndrome famous in the 1988 film “Rain Man” when he played an autistic savant with exceptional skills in memory and mathematics.

It has been reported Nakai admitted it would not be easy playing his character, but he had already started preparing and is now looking through real-life accounts of savants.

“[The script] looks really good.  It’s like a documentary drama.  I hope I can show a new side of Masahiro Nakai.  I watched Rain Man when it came out, but I want to watch it again to study Dustin Hoffman’s acting.”

Nakai’s last drama was 2009’s “婚カツ!(Kon-katsu!)”, but that was with TV company Fuji TV.  In fact, Nakai’s last drama with TBS was in 2004, when he starred in”砂の器 (Suna no Utsuwa)”.

“I’d always wondered what TBS had been doing these last 8 years,” he said.

Filming for “ATARU” starts in March.

Shukan Josei magazine article about Nakai's new love interest

SMAP’s Masahiro Nakai may have a new girlfriend, it was revealed by Shukan Josei magazine in their latest issue, reports Sankei News and Chunichi Sports.

The magazine went on sale on January 17, and reports Nakai has been seen several times with a woman in her late 20s who looks like actress Ryoko Kuninaka.

The two had apparently gone on holiday in Australia earlier this month between January 4 and 9.  It has been reported travelers on the same flight had said the woman looked nice, and had a calm manner about her.  When Nakai had touched back down in Narita Airport, reporters had asked him about the woman, but the SMAP star stayed quiet.

Previously, Nakai had been dating singer Kumi Koda before the two broke it off in February last year.  Sankei Sports newspaper has reported Nakai had met the woman (labeled “A-san”) through a mutual friend.

Since the March 11 disaster, Nakai has been spotted visiting the disaster site several times to help victims.  It has been reported A-san had been seen accompanying Nakai during his visits to Fukushima in June and October.

Nakai’s agency, Johnny’s & Associates, has not released any statement.

SMAP’s Goro Inagaki talked about how he was looking forward to working with Sexy Zone’s Shori Sato, it was revealed at his drama’s press conference in Tokyo on January 5, reports Sponichi Annex.

Inagaki has been cast in the new winter drama “Hungry!”, and plays the lead character’s (Osamu Mukai) rival.  Another Johnny’s talent cast in show is Shori Sato, his first drama series, who has been cast as the leading lady character’s (Miori Takimoto) little brother.

“I want to bring a fresh face to the show,” Sato said.

It has been reported Inagaki jumped in to help the somewhat nervous Sato.

“I’m going to do my best and smile just as better as Sato-kun and just like a fresh and succulent tomato,” Inagaki said.

Although the two talents do not have any scenes together, Inagaki said he would like to help Sato as much as possible.

“I hope Sato-kun and I have scenes together.  He’s cute.  Just before, Sato-kun was telling me he wants to eat 中トロ (chutoro tuna), and I’d like to take him out to eat some chutoro tuna.  It’s an advance investment for a talent who will be the next big thing.  I may not be qualified enough, but I’m willing to help him if he has any problems,” Inagaki said.

SMAP’s new year

13:17 JST January 11, 2012 2 comments

SMAP’s Goro Inagaki revealed what his group was up to during the new year, reports Model Press and REAL LIVE.

Inagaki appeared on popular day show “笑っていいとも!(Waratte Iitomo)” on January 5, and as the first guest for the show’s 2012 season the Johnny’s talent chatted to TV host Tamori about his new year holiday.

“I think Kusanagi-kun and Katori-kun went to 初詣 (Hatsumode, New Year’s visit to a shrine).  Nakai-kun was hosting a TV show till dawn, and Kimura-kun was with his family.  I don’t know why they didn’t invite me (to Hatsumode).”

As for Inagaki, the SMAP star said he put an end to his 15-year run of going on holiday with his family over New Years.  This year, it has been reported he had spent the holidays at a house belonging to two of his friends who had gotten married last year.

Inagaki’s fellow SMAP Tsuyoshi Kusanagi spent New Years at Tamori’s house, something the talent has done for a number of years.

“(Kusanagi) sleeps for about 17 hours on January 1,” Tamori said.

On the show, Inagaki revealed Takuya Kimura is really into golf these days.

“Kimura-kun had been playing golf for a while, but just over the last year he’s really gotten into it.  He sends me really short text messages saying, ‘what are you doing next week?’.  It’s got to the point that I know that question is an invitation to go play golf,” he said.
