Tatsuya Ueda’s bittersweet crush

KAT-TUN’s Tatsuya Ueda gave fans a look slightly sad, yet real story about his love life in the October edition of Poporo magazine, reports Johnny’s Kenkyukai.

It has been reported when pop stars talk about their love life, most of the time it is either brief or something which happened when they were at primary or junior high school.  But in this month’s Poporo, Ueda told a slightly different story, which is also likely to be recent.

“Once there was a girl I really liked, and when we had dinner together it was so much fun and we got along so well we lost track of time.  Then we went on dates, and I began to like her even more.  But after the fourth date, I began to think that something wasn’t right.  I really liked her, but I had this feeling that it wouldn’t work out if we started going out…  In the end, I never told her I had feelings for her, and that was that.  It was a really unfortunate decision because I did like her.”

While it is difficult to put a date to the word “once”, it is quite clear this is not a story from his childhood if they went out for dinner.  The fact they went on four dates could also indicate the lady had feelings for Ueda too.  It is also difficult to imagine a young Ueda, or any young person for that matter, being able to give up on a relationship while he still had feelings for her unless he had had enough dating experience to notice the small things he knows are important in a relationship.

Either way, even if the story did not have a happy ending, it did give a glimpse into how much Ueda values his relationships.

Kanjani8’s Ryuhei Maruyama beats former pro boxer at boxing game

11:33 JST June 29, 2012 2 comments

Kanjani8’s Ryuhei Maruyama and his drama co-stars started punching sand bags in front of the press on June 28 to see which of them was a better boxer, reports Daily Sports Online and Walker plus news.

Maruyama plays a virgin learning to box in his upcoming drama series “Boys On The Run“, which is based on the manga series of the same name.  Other cast members include KAT-TUN’s Tatsuya Ueda, Akina Minami, Eriko Sato, and Takanori Jinnai.

“We’re working on a drama during a particularly tough time (with the Olympics starting in July), but I think this story is just as entertaining.  I just watched through the first episode and it’s like watching something that has so many things packed into it.  Try watching even the first episode please,” Maruyama said.

It has been reported during their promotional press conference in Tokyo on Thursday, a punching machine was brought out to see how good the actors were at boxing.  Special guest and former WBC bantamweight boxing champion Yasuei Yakushiji set the first record, throwing 195 punches in 30 seconds.  KAT-TUN’s Ueda scored 172 punches, while Maruyama scored 269 punches.

“I’m sorry, while watching you guys I got an idea about what works best,” he said.

Another question thrown at the cast was about which actress they found most attractive.

“I’d choose Shiho-san (played by Sato).  She has a kind of older-woman seductiveness, she’s open-minded.  She’s the best female character who says the right thing and it sticks in your mind, so I think that makes her a very amazing lady,” Maruyama said.

“The one lady who I can really trust as a trainer is Hana-san (played by Airi Taira), but then the ladies next to me (Minami and Sato) are really pretty too…  They’re all too beautiful that I couldn’t choose,” Ueda said.

“What are you, some pure-hearted teen idol!” Maruyama said in response to Ueda’s comment.

“Boys On The Run” begins on July 6.

Tatsuya Ueda’s comeback live

KAT-TUN’S Tatsuya Ueda (26) has returned to the stage yesterday for his solo tour in Tokyo, a month after injuring his foot in Taiwan, reports Sankei Sports.

The singer performed 18 songs for his 12,000 fans at the Kokuritsu Yoyogi Kyogijyo Dai-ichi Taikukan without showing any signs that his broken left toe was slowing him down.

None of the stage settings or routines had been changed, and it has been reported that Ueda had been running around the stage with all of his energy.

“(My foot has) only healed 70 per cent.  I still feel some pain,” he said.

Ueda had broken his left big toe in three places in the joint area after failing a three-metre jump during a KAT-TUN concert in Taipei on August 27.

Looking back on footage from the concert, the singer says he can laugh about it now.

“When I was jumping down I did think ‘I’ve got it wrong’,” he said.

The KAT-TUN star said it had been his dream to go on a solo tour, and even sent a message of support to Jin Akanishi (26), who had recently left the group to pursue his own solo US tour.

“He’s my friend.  I want to cheer him on,” he said.

Tatsuya Ueda returns to stage in Taiwan

KAT-TUN’s Tatsuya Ueda (26) returned to the stage yesterday with his ankle bandaged up, but it didn’t stop him from being a part of their concert from start to finish, reports Sponichi Annex.

One day after dislocating his left toe, which was later found to be fractured as well, the singer made a come back by attending a fan event and the group’s second concert in Taipei on Saturday night.

It has been reported Ueda appeared only wearing his right shoe, while his left ankle had been bandaged up.  With his left leg dragging slightly as he walked, the singer said he could still feel a little pain.

However, during concert rehearsals it was decided no major changes were required, and dance routines only needed minor alterations.  Ueda managed to strap himself onto wires and perform flying routines 15 metres in the air.

During the concert, Ueda apologized to his fans for letting them down the day before.

“I caused the group trouble, and I feel guilty for not being able to show our Taiwanese fans, who had been looking forward to KAT-TUN’s performance, a full 5-member team until the end,” he said.

After returning to Japan on August 29, Ueda had said he wasn’t going to slow down preparations for his solo concert in Hiroshima.

“With the support of my staff and cast, I’m going to work as hard as possible to give my fans a good show.

“I’m already taking lots of calcium!”  He said.

KAT-TUN’s Tatsuya Ueda injures foot during concert

During KAT-TUN’s Taiwan concert last night, Tatsuya Ueda (26) was rushed to hospital after dislocating his left foot toe, reports Sankei Sports.

At around 9:30pm local time, Ueda was performing his solo “RABBIT OR WOLF”, but failed to land properly after jumping down from a three-metre high platform.  The singer managed to walk backstage by himself but collapsed once there.  After seeing his pale face it has been reported that concert staff decided he could not continue and rushed the singer to hospital.

The remaining four members carried on without Ueda, but group member Kazuya Kamenashi (24) promised the 13,000 fans he would be back soon.

“We have lost one from a foot injury, but we’ll be back tomorrow fit and ready alright,” he said.

Ueda did not spend too long in hospital, and was soon released to go back to his hotel.

A representative from Johnny’s & Associates has said that Ueda has expressed strong determination to perform in the next concert so they would work something out to make it happen.

The injury will not postpone the singer’s solo concert scheduled for August 29 in Hiroshima.
